Real is Only Halfway There

Hey Guys,

Here are a couple of lectures which you may find inspirational or at least interesting, the first is 'Real Is Only Halfway There' by Peter Cook. Which is themed largely on capturing the essence of a project through drawing, rendering etc. which is not necessarily the most 'real'. It's only an hour and a bit if you don't watch the questions.

Another lecture which may also be interesting especially in relation to our conversations about use of perspective today is the first lecture in this video. In it Cammy Brothers presents a potential future for the drawing which is more poetic, through looking a brief history of drawing for purposes beyond construction drawing. Her lecture only lasts 30mins or so, perfect for a lunchtime :).

Hope they are useful,

Andrew

First Board Work

Still some filler text in places which should be less blocky and keys to do, but otherwise the first vertical strip on the far left of the boards (see layout in previous post) is done:

Any comments appreciated,

Andrew.

Design Development

So I have been focusing on the design for the majority of my time. I am looking to tie it all up before.

I have made a series of changes, , I have decided to bite the bullet and hang the whole of the hangar roof from the pylons which were introduced at review 3. There is a point which needs more structure, at the point where the roof goes from pitched to flat, but that is unresolved, will probably make a little model of it to test it out.

This now means that the terminal buildings are separate structurally. However now I have removed the lattice girder structure from the terminals they are looking a little neglected (See the second image), so they are the next task.

I did some quick exports of where I am :

One 'module' of the terminal structure

Precedents I am looking at for the terminals, trying to create a sleek translucent aesthetic which sits underneath the hangar roof structure:

Any thoughts?

Andrew

Update: This is what my terminal buildings are shaping up like:
